Historical Information - Still under Construction, please check back

The Works Projects Administration (WPA) was a Federal Agency set up to put people to work during the Great Depression and Dust Bowl era.  The Agency was created to focus on putting labor to work quickly.  Prior to the WPa was the Public Works Administration (PWA) had the same vision, but President Franklin D. Roosevelt was not satisfied with the PWA's efforts.  The PWA was primarily large projects with heavy engineering and the implementation was just not fast enough to get large numbers of people working and earning quickly, which was the vision of his "New Deal".
